250 Remix
The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
Victoria British Columbia
250 Remix addresses the ongoing conflict pertaining to the rabbit infestation at the University of Victoria. For the duration of this installation community members are invited to interact with the language that enables controversy and media exploration.
Action
Rabbit foot key chains hang in front of words that have been found in newspapers and Internet articles describing the current rabbit crises in Victoria. Participants are invited to take a keychain as a souvenir of this exhibition with the understanding that the selection of a particular key chain denotes support for the associated word.
Also working with the site specific 250 local area code, participants are invited to contribute their voice. Expression is encouraged through viewer collaboration. Blank cards are supplied to write on and help grow the installation through the duration of this installation.
Participants were left to their own choice as to how to participate

The greatest crimes in this world are not by people breaking the rules
but by people following the rules
The exhibition titled FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY is a collection of work that derives from years of traveling and studying a diversity of urban locations. This work is constructed from bearing witness to the non-verbal languages of expression from Montreal graffiti to memorials in Germany. Tegan reworks images of commonplace locations into subversive critiques that promote awareness of the subjective experience of public space. How is a space marked with the presence of human intervention? Embodiments of these locations portray her personal connection to movement, memory and documentation.
Contemplate the varied forms Tegan reveals to be her art practice from large format prints capturing projections of intimate vistas on to her body subsequently manipulated further into postcards, slides and the common tools of tourist memorabilia. Circulating these tokens back into the public domain offer one the ability to decode personal narratives through urban spaces cultivating an echo of memory through trace.
FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY invites the viewer to contemplate how such marks of human touch, often ignored by an area’s inhabitants, develop into an experiential vocabulary that can transform our perceptions of public space. Recording her private presence in these public locations Tegan reengages with urban spaces through subversive acts of intervention all shown though documentation and collections of hand-made books.
Raw and Unlikely Places
Harcourt House
Edmonton Alberta
This work has emerged as a personal cartography demonstrating the need to convey the trajectory of emotional force and physical experience contained in particular areas.
In the essay Politics of Location, Adrienne Rich wrote “I need to understand how a place on the map is also a place in history within. How do I situate myself in these histories that I happen upon?” The human touch of public mark making provides me with an examination of pathways of memory, referencing the presence of someone who was here before. Collecting images within the offbeat tracks of intimate urban spaces activates the imaginative use of what already exists and the ability to transform it into something else: a different reality, a creative space where we can change things. Using the body as a canvas these random marks become filtered contour lines upon the human form, examining the intersection of a private biography captured from public spaces.
